Tycoon Ruler has developed into a dependable sire with winners like Jet Style who scored a barnstorming victory at Eagle Farm on Saturday, September 1st.
Based at Clear Mountain Fairview in the Darling Downs, Tycoon Ruler has sired the winners of 143 races in his first three crops and they have saluted at a very impressive 67% strike-rate.
Jet Style (6g Tycoon Ruler – Over And Over by Baryshnikov) has been a model of consistency this year and he had won at the Gold Coast before doubling up in the Mt St Michael’s College Hcp (1400m) at Eagle Farm.
Clear Mountain Fairview’s father and son team of Bob and Mick Frappell sold him for $17,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions HIT Sale. The gelding has banked $80,000 for connections and, just as importantly, he has been in commission for all six of his wins to date.
Trained at Toowoomba by Don Baker, he is owned by a syndicate that includes Luke Schwenke and country bookmaker Wayne Gannon.
Gannon is hoping Jet Style can emulate the last good horse he raced – Real Say. He was also as consistent as clockwork winning 15 races highlighted by one spell of five in a row that included the Beaudesert and Esk Cups bookended by wins at Eagle Farm.
Tycoon Ruler is a son of Last Tycoon and he won sprints as a two year-old at Flemington and Moonee Valley. As a three year-old, he was runner-up to Delago Brom in the G1 Caulfield Guineas and to Titanic Jack in the G2 MVRC Alister Clarke Stakes.
Returning at four, he was a Listed winner of the Rupert Clarke Stakes and John Adams Stakes at Caulfield before retiring to Clear Mountain Fairview. He stands for a $4,400 (inc gst) service fee alongside Choistar (Choisir), Outback Prince (Desert Prince), Zaha (Kingmambo) and Primus (Flying Spur).
